The room she’s in is warm and festive; it’s unlike anything that Gwendolyn knows. All around she see’s the faces of her parents and sister, of those passed and gone, allies and bitter enemies, familiar faces and not.
The contentment that Gwendolyn feels is something she has longed for all of her life.
When she wakes, Gwendolyn curls around herself mourning for something that will never occur.
So when Oswald pulls her close and murmurs words of comfort into her ear she realizes that although she doesn’t have that idealized perfect family. What she has is better, because it’s real.
